Welcome to my webpage. I hope this page will be of use to students, prospective students, and anyone trying to reach me or locate one of my publications. Please follow the links below for more specific information.

Catherine Z. Elgin

I am professor of the philosophy of education at the Harvard Graduate School of Education, where I have taught since 1996. Previously I taught philosophy at MIT, Princeton, Wellesley, Dartmouth, UNC Chapel Hill, Michigan State, Simmons, and Vassar.

I am an epistemologist with an interest in aesthetics and the philosophy of science. In recent works I have argued that the same epistemological issues arise, and similar solutions are available in the arts and in the sciences.

I serve as literary executor for Jonathan Adler and for Nelson Goodman. My permission is required for access to the Goodman Archive at Harvard. Please contact me if you want access to the Archive or if you have questions about Goodman's or Adler's works.
